Cotton is a natural fibre, most commonly used because of its excellent characteristics: high resistance, tensile strength and easycare. The fiber is skin-friendly, breathable and it can absorb a high amount of moisture and hold it. Cotton is insensitive to heat and can be washed and ironed at high temperatures (up to 95°C), which makes it particularly hygienic.
The raw cotton is extracted from the cotton plant, then processed and spun into yarn. The longer the seed fibers/cotton fibers (“staple length”), the more tearproof the spun yarn.
The cultivation of the cotton plant consumes a lot of water, which is one of the big disadvantages of the cotton production. Many agrochemicals and pesticides are used for conventional cotton, which burdens the health of workers, consumers and the environment. For organic cotton it is prohibited to use these synthetic pesticides, so it has a low allergy potential and is particularly gentle to skin. Also, people who are working on the fields are not exposed to hazardous agents.
For our iobio™ and PoPoLiNi® products we use organic cotton. Especially for our product range it is important to use the best fabric quality. With our certificates, such as GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) – worldwide aknowledged for organic textiles and fair working conditions- we guarantee the maintenance of those standards and meet the strictest manufactoring guidelines.
Our iobio™ and PoPoLiNi® products are made from these organic cotton fabrics: Interlock, Single Jersey, Fine Rib, Velours, Knitted Terry, Teddy Plush, Poplin, Baby Cord, Knitted Cotton, Sweat, Denim, Elastic Waistband, Cotton Fleece
Wool is the oldest textile fibre that mankind started to process. After the linving sheep has been shorn the wool is first cleaned and washed and later several times combed and and spun into yarns. The quality of the wool depends not only on the breed of the sheep but also on climate, feed and age.
For clothing the fine and soft wool of the merino sheep is generally used. (= merino wool). Due to its natural curl and special construction of the fiber wool holds in a lot of air (up to 85% of its total volume), which makes wool as the ideal thermoregulator. Thus it keeps us warm in winter and cool in summer when excess body heat is discharged to the cooler environment. Moisture is absorbed and transported from the body while while the lanolin contend works as a waterrepellent from the outside.
The curled structure of the fibre makes the material very elastic so it will hardly wrinkle. The natural lanolin content (also known as wool wax) has antibacterial properties and supports the natural self-cleansing function, further more it makes wool dirt and stain resistant. Without washing, a used wool garment will quickly regenerate by hanging it in the open air. In addition, the proportion of lanolin protects the fiber from moisture and repels water droplets on the surface. Wool fiber will absorb up to 33% of their dry weight of vaporous moisture without feeling moist.Dependiing on the availability on the maket 50-80 % of our wool products are made of organic wool according to GOTS Standard (certified organic animal breeding).
The animal protein fiber silk is obtained from the cocoons of Silkworms who feed on mulberry leaves – the quality of their diet is reflected in the quality of the silk. As is entirely dispensed with insecticide and pesticides in silk production, silk is residue-free. The silk fiber is one of the lightest, finest fibers. However, at the same time it is very tear-resistant and has the highest elasticity of all natural fibers. The fiber can absorb moisture up to one third of its own weight without feeling damp. Silk feels particularly smooth and cools and soothes the skin. As wool it is a thermo regulator and cools when it is hot and warms when it is cold.
From the the remains of thee cocoon which cannot be spun the slubbing Noil Silk is made. It contains many antimicrobial substances, which are particularly soothing and anti-inflammatory on our skin. Silk is delicate to textile it should be washed at maximum 30° and not spinn dried.

Polyester, the most commonly used manmade fibre is based on petrochemical polimerisation. The fibre is highly tear and scrub resistant and absorbs little moisture. The fiber is easy to clean, dries quickly and does not shrink after washing even at higher temperatures. We use polyester blended with cotton to enhance the durarbiltiy and form stability especially with our cloth nappies, which have a guranteed washing cycle of over 200.
Polyamid (also known under the Trade names Nylon or Perlon) is a fibre based on petrochemical polimerisation (as Polyester). The fibre is highly tear and scrub resistant but not very resistant against acids. As Texile it is used for swimm suits, Rain coats and of course the most famous Nylon(Tm) stockings.
Elasthane (also Spandex) is a very elastic, synthetic fiber, which consists largely of polyurethane (based on mineral oil). Materials blended with spandex have more flexible and therefor stretchable. This makes them comfortable to wear. Even when used enormous strain the tissue will get back to its original shape Used in iobio™ und PoPoLiNi®: Swimm Nappies, socks, stocking, Elastic waistband
