How do I wash cloth nappies? Washing and drying cloth nappies are easy if you know how it works. That's why we're happy to give you some tips on how to wash and care for your cotton, PU (Polyurethane) or wool nappy products.
dispose of the dirty nappy liner
close all Velcros to avoid fibres getting caught
collect used nappies in a nappy bag (wet bag) or with a laundry net in a nappy bucket
do not soak in water and store for max. three days
load the washing machine as complete as possible
use a pre-wash program to rinse urine and poo
select program for cotton or coloured clothes, no eco-program
we recommend washing at 40-60°C – check instructions on the care label
use skin – and environmentally friendly detergent; our recommendation: Ulrich natürlich
Avoid detergents containing enzymes - the encyme cellulase leads to premature wear of the nappies as it attacks cotton
use the recommended amount of detergent
do not use fabric softener – it reduces the absorbency of the nappy
occasionally use ecologically harmless decalcifier for hard water
treat stains with sunlight exposure or natural stain remover
pull into shape while it is still wet
please wait until it dries completely
we do not recommend using a dryer
air well after use
wash approximately every 2 - 3 weeks and regrease with lanolin
hand wash with a mild detergent or wool detergent; our recommendation: Ulrich natürlich mild detergent
after washing, pull well into shape and let dry, lying down
wash and impregnate the wool cover three times until it is dense
our recommendation: Ulrich natürlich wool impregnation
mix wool cure with hot water according to instructions and let it cool down
put previously washed wool covers into the mixture and soak for 4-6 hours
squeeze out moisture, do not wring
pull well into shape and let dry, lying down
do not dry in the sun or on the heater to protect the wool fibres
